May is Celiac Awareness Month

May is Celiac Disease awareness month, and YOU can help spread awareness

*visit Celiac.org and purchase a green wristband to support research

*Speak with your Doctor and Dentist about Celiac

*Join a Teamglutenfree race...go to www.teamglutenfree.org and see details, walk or run for Celiac Awareness in your community!

*Help forward my website to friends and lets get the word out!!

*This is freaky, there are 2,115,954 cases of Celiac Disease in the USA

*40,000 have been diagnosed.......so for each Celiac Patient that was lucky enough to get Diagnosed, there are at LEAST 53 people out there suffering and do not know why........We can help , but we must spread the word!!!

*Ask Congress to pass H.Con.Res.70

H.Con.Res. 70, sponsored by Rep. Nita Lowey (NY), highlights the need for individuals with celiac disease to have access to nutritional counseling; the need for better education among physicians and other health professionals about the disease; and advocates for greater federal funding for celiac research.

Joe Jonas...I met him in Columbus...did I mention I LOVE the JONAS BROTHERS???

Hi Guys!

Welcome to my site

I hope that this will become a place to make new friends, share recipes and experiences, and support each other as we figure out this celiac diet!

This website will have all the latest news I learn about  Celiac as well as a place to share ideas such as.. what to pack for lunch, what about college, take out food , and lots more! From this whole experience I have figured out that I need to learn how to cook! ..So I have my cooking mentor, Judy, teaching me and testing some of her recipes with gluten free flour mixtures. I plan to spend Spring Break in Marco with my Grandma and we will cook together as well.

My goal of this site is to spread the word and create a community for everyone out there with this! I have learned that there are tons of good tasing gluten free cakes and cookies out there, but wow are they calorie dense!! I can see why my Nutritionist, Mary Kay Sharrett says its not uncommon for Celiacs to gain up to 30 pounds when they are following the diet. For this reason I also want to find some yummy food choices that won't pack on the pounds!!

I would like to thank Dr. Lisa Braverman, for listening to me,and finally diagnosing me, after being told for more than 2 years I was "looking for attention" with imaginary symptoms from another local Doctor.

I also want to thank Doctor Sestak,(New Albany Medical Associates Urgent Care) and his assistant Sheryl, for always being there for me and listening and caring so much..you guys are the BEST!!!

I am using the color GREEN alot as that is the (Symbol?) for Celiac Disease

Be sure to check out my blogs and comment/email me!

Celiac, its a Family Affair

My Gramma and namesake,

Maryalice O'Neil from Falmouth, MA and Marco Island,FL

has Celiac, as does my  God Mother Aunt Molly....

When you have Celiac, there is a 5-15% chance one of your offspring or Siblings will also have Celiac

Spending Spring Break in Marco was awesome ...

#1 to see the people I love, #2 to have them give me food tips!!
